The small town of Grumpy Gulch, tucked away and hidden, is yet still under constant harrassment by hostile beasties. The dwarfs living here pan for gold and mine for ore and gemstones. The local warriors, having seen their fair share of skirmishes, will also come to the aid of the local humans, with whom they hav a friendly (if banter-filled) relationship.
